My garage is mostly detached. I'm always thinking about adding a second story for a library/workshop/man cave space.

Thanks for the comments concerning the rockets. Takes some patience to work with them. For OOP models, I tend to put a little more effort into making them look good. You just can't go out and buy another one if you screw it up. And, it helps if you don't stand too close when taking a picture.
The FSI kits were a bit more difficult to finish. Anyone who has built an FSI kit knows the decals were not the greatest when new. They are an absolute piece of do do 30 years later, no matter how well preserved. They look like you won't have an issue but put them in water and they fall apart. So the detailing is home made decals (the case of the Dart) or a combination of home made and painted on details (Micro roll pattern is painted). What's bad is I can only do black ink decals now. I've been using the printers at work but the ink has become so expensive, they quit buying colors. And, obviously, I'm too cheap to get ink for my color printer. I don't use the rocket motors I stored in the attic. I give them out and watch the pandemonium at the launch "Don't use any C11s if you got them from Don"...... It's GREAT to have an on-line reference library for items like decals. Thank you Scott for making so much available to us. And thank you to the many fellow rocketeers who have taken the time to provide this material for archiving here.

According to my list, I have 196 unbuilt rocket kits. They are all stored in totes in two closets inside our house. Plus, I have enough boxes and bins of parts to scratch build dozens more.
(Consequence of 40 years in the hobby plus 20 years working part-time at a hobby store.) My flyable fleet of model rockets is all kept in my "hobby room" in our house as are all my black powder engine stocks. Most of my built mid & hi-power rockets, that's a different story. Our NAR section lost our high-power field back in 2013 and have yet to find a replacement site. Our current field allows (just barely) for modest mid-power flights. [I could rejoin the local Tripoli group to fly high power again - haven't flown with them since 2007 - but never seem to find time.] So, most of my mid-power and all of my high-power fleet has been idle since 2013. In 2015, we moved, and I didn't have a good spot inside the new house for those larger rockets. They ended up staying in our attached garage (not insulated, finished, or climate controlled). I eventually put them all up in the garage rafters to get them out of the way. I realized that they might eventually degrade to the point where I'd end up throwing them in the garbage. Last week, I realized that I could fly my PML Explorer on a G to ~1,000 ft and use my JLCR to keep it on the field. I pulled it down from the garage rafters, cleaned off the dust... and it's perfectly fine. No discernible distress from the 9 years in the humidity and temperature extremes of the garage. In this case, the Quantum Tube air frame probably helped.

I don't ever take free motors so wouldn't be a victim of Don's Cato C11s, but find his gag hilarious.
Back in my youth I did give out a handful of free motors that a buddy and I deliberately rigged by cracking them on the side with a hammer.

You have a cold serving of bad karma coming your way. Some day, some time... I used to load cigarettes as a prank. Even going as far as buying my own pack so that I could load them in advance. Since I never smoked, they could not directly retaliate. They tried to spike my Coke. At first, they tried salt. As it was fresh from the fountain, it bubbled over and they had to clean it up. Then they tried soy sauce. I noticed it tasted different and commented about it. They started laughing and eventually confessed. Without comment, I reached for the bottle of soy sauce and decanted more into my glass and drank it. I would later discover that soy sauce and Coke is used together to marinate chicken - it is something I still do. Then they tried using Tabasco sauce. I liked that combination too. They finally got me back by pouring water into an ash tray and filtering the fluid through a napkin into my drink. That was putrid. I responded with the "double load." Load one deep into the cigarette using a toothpick to push it in, then load another one very shallow so that it went off soon after they lit it up. They figured it was safe and relit it... Bill

I used to pull the same cigarette load pranks.
Both the Bang loads and the Stink-O loads. Actually got a co-worker to PEUKE on the second puff with a Stink-O load. That was hilarious. I'm pretty sure those Stink-O loads are just a long hard piece of RUBBER. One could accomplish the same thing with a small sliver of toenail.

How many kits is too much...

I have 127 kits in storage bins in my garage, with also enough fin kits and parts etc to build quite a few more. However I only actively started collecting about 4 years ago after getting back into the hobby. Sadly to collect all these old cool kits has cost over $10k, luckily as I get close to retirement I can afford it. At a rate of 4 a month average I will be done in 2028.
