Default Space Shuttle Kits (gliding)

The ones I know of:

#1284 Estes Space Shuttle 76-98 (quite a run, I didn't realize that one was available so long)
#007246 Estes Shuttle (the new one)

Are there any other gliding Space Shuttle kits that were made past or present?

Estes had at least one other gliding shuttle (maybe two others), but I know that styrofoam one probably from the late 90s I suspect was one. Not sure the product number though. And then there was the one with the "Skylite" foam/plastic (or some similar name) that may have had gliding recovery.

Go to the Ninfinger rocketry site and check the Estes catalogs from the mid-80s to late 90s and you'll probably find them all.

Thanks Earl, I found the Estes #1467 which was a foam E2X pop pod available as a starter set (it is on the cover of the 95 Estes catalog).

Any other manufacturers make one?

The original NCR also made one. You can see some information about it here:

Ok, just found the other Estes shuttle I was talking about with the 'Skylite' foam construction, but it does NOT glide. Just for info though, here's a link to the 1981 catalog (and it was probably in other Estes catalogs too): http://www.ninfinger.org/rockets/no...a/81est032.html

Not aware right off the top of my head of any other gliding shuttle models by other manufacturers.

There is also the Centuri/Semroc one that was based on one of the original Space Shuttle concepts that did not make it into reality. Not scale to an actual built full-scale though. Both pieces have glide recovery.
That one is still available.

The big North Coast one had an orbiter big enough for RC.

Yes, there is such a thing as NORMAL
, if you have to ask what is "NORMAL" , you probably aren't !

Failure may not be an OPTION, but it is ALWAYS a POSSIBILITY.
ALL systems are GO for MAYHEM, CHAOS, and HAVOC !

Sheri's Hot Rockets had one. I bought it, but sold it about 3 years ago. It was rough, but seemed to work well according to the videos I saw.

I have seen the SEMROC kit but did not know the story behind it. It is on the back cover of the 71 Centuri catalog
