I’m not sure there are brass bits, since brass is so soft. I turn brass on my wood lathe, using HSS lathe tools. The picture shows a tool handle I turned, with a brass plumbing hex nut used as a ferrule to strengthen the handle. Some exotics woods I’ve turned are more difficult to cut than brass.

One solution may be to use a piece of brass tubing to drill out the core. Perhaps cutting an angled tip, to prevent clogging, and also to make it easier to sharpen the tip, might work well.
