I certainly would not. In my case, I just used part of the Star Orbiter decal...

And I have leftover letters and the diamond thingies if anybody needs some.

I won't buy scale kits if they lack decals.
When I bought the first (of very few I bought) "The Launch Pad" kit in my fleet I felt EXTREMELY RIPPED OFF that it did not include decals for the price.
It turned an overpriced $50 kit into a $73 ordeal for a stupid AIM-9.

Most kits are just 3FN or 4FN and are easily cloned except for decals with white or metallic colors. Decals are usually the reason whether or not I buy a kit these days. They make or break a kit. Odd plastic parts or embossed shrouds are obviously another reason, but like I said, most kits are just 3FN or 4FN.

If it is a peel-n-cuss decal, I won't buy the kit unless it is something like a Mercury Redstone. Even then, I'll print my own water slide decal instead of using those P-n-C's that were invented by Lucifer.

Got the Olympus few weeks ago and found a Vapor today. Nice kits at great prices.

My Estes Olympus kit came today (yay!). I had to order it direct from Hobby Lobby's website. What is that color on the PNC and fins? Bronze? I haven't slit it open yet to see if it's stated in the instructions because I'm headed out the door to Birmingham, AL.

Looking forward to building it!

Looks like a bronze color - that jives with the Greek mythology theme of the graphics. If/when I pick one of these up I’m thinking more of a psychedelic 70s custom van look

Thanks! Actually, I just found out my flight will be a little delayed so I slit open the kit anyway. The instructions call for copper or gold--but I'll probably shoot it in bronze. Also, the decal sheet has only (6) lightning bolt decals for the (4) fins.

I finally was able to pick up an Olympus kit today (and could've gotten a Vapor—which was hiding behind two Nike-Xs—as well). These were at a Hobby Lobby that's further than the nearest one to me, but is kind of on the way home from where I was this morning.

The plastic parts (nose cone, payload adapter, payload tube) appear to be the same ones as in the Green Eggs kit save for the color.

The Olympus' body is six inches longer and is not slotted for TTW fins. The fins are not tabbed for TTW either—so the description in the TARC Beginners Guide is incorrect for this model. The four Olympus fins are 3/32 balsa and surface mounted. I was actually surprised at how light/soft this particular kit's fins are.

Olympus is set up for 24mm C, D or E motors and uses the screw-on retainer. Green Eggs is set up for C11/D12 only and has a regular metal motor hook. The Olympus face card does not actually call out any C11 options, however.

The decals, as they have been with most recent Estes releases, are water slide. (Green Eggs' uses peel-n-stick.)

We shall see if anything else turns up in the build.

I’m getting ready to lay decals on my Olympus. Something that you’ll find lacking in your Olympus is enough lightning bolt decals to do both sides of all of the fins (there’s 4 fins but only enough lightning bolts to both sides of only 3 fins).

I called Estes and they promptly sent me another decals sheet for the Olympus, so if you need (2) more lightning bolt decals PM your mailing address to me and I’ll get them in the mail to you as soon as I return from Lugoff, SC.
