Very happy with Estes Green Eggs "egg lofting" kit. As part of a church's summer camp project, the youth put together nine kits, which they added their personal touch to the finish by painting it and adding their own design decals. They were happy with their kits and are awaiting to launch them soon.

All kits had their shock cord attachments upgraded with a Kevlar string attached to the motor mount and substituting the rubber shock cord with 1/4 inch elastic. Payload section was padded with foam to help cushion the "payload specimens"... Also the fins were covered with shipping label paper to improve the finish.

The attached pictures show my kit. Primed, wet sand, and finish with Rustoleum 2X Miragold yellow with some black mono cote strips for added visuals. The decal blends very well with the Miragold. I am very, very happy with the gloss finish of the paint. And this is not using any buffer agents, just the paint out of the rattle can.

We could not launch them at the beginning of the month because the motors we have were part of Estes' recall. But we did receive a new batch that was not affected by the recall and will be launching soon.

I really like this model and have flown two of them pretty much to death (well....through one D CATO that blew my first one up and several blowouts because of the back pressure of the baffle I put in the second one. I will build a third. It's a good reliable payloader and I use mine for all kinds of testing (as well as the occasional egg). The current one most recently was used to test fly my Eggtimer ION/telemetry transmitter combo that's going in my scale model for NARAM.

No need for the kevlar. With it tied to the motor mount it will eventually get cooked anyway. The good ol' tri-fold mount works great and keeps the shock cord further away from the ejection charge.

Should use a 29mm motor mount instead of 24mm.
The old Enerjet Egg Crate was a lot shorter rocket and lofted eggs with a 29mm full 80n-sec F67.
Any D12 or E12 launch is pretty wimpy compared to that.

Fields were larger, more expansive back during the Enerjet days. Besides... this is an Estes rocket we're talking about. It's supposed to be wimpy.

But I still think the Green Eggs is a cool rocket. Way better than the weird Eggscaliber or Space Crater rockets. Space Crater is a great name for an egglofter though.

An unclipped chicken was the best egg lofter ever.

Lots of paint schemes were available.
No wadding needed.
Combination of glide and featherweight recovery.
Fully enclosed and protected payload section prevented breakage.
You even had bantams that flew on smaller motors.

And if you had a big enough fleet, you eliminated ticks and other annoying crawlies in the yard and had plenty of breakfast food!
