I fully concur with Roy here.
Whenever I fly vintage motors, they have markedly better "off the pad" kick/performance. Gives creedance to the concept that "yesterday's" BP was higher energy than today's. I also wonder if "aging" the BP has any role ? The delay grain produces MARKEDLY more tracking smoke in the old motors as well. I have some real 1972 B14s with real drilled cores. While the pressed-core B14/B8 kicks well off the pad, the older drilled core B14s accelerate "Warp-like" compared to the pressed cores.

Almost Mortar-Like. No funny "Bloop" sound at ignition though.
I used to like to fly an old beat-up Astron Avenger on a A8-0 to B14-7. Took off fairly slow, staged low, then warp-speed bolted to apogee.

The clay cap was just clinging by compression adhesion to the ejection charge. it couldn't attach to the casing! The culprit is the charcoal used in black powder, what wood it is made from, and how it's made. My understanding is that willow wood is the best; Goex uses maple.

When DuPont discontinues making a product/chemical and sells it off to someone else, things go to H**L IN A HANDBASKET quickly. When they sold off their Automotive Finish business to XYZ Co. It happened also.
DuPont should STILL be in the BLASTIN' , BP, and smokeless propellant business.

A heads up, the Camera departed the nosecone and was lost. The flight had what looked like normal Staging and ejection. It was flying on a modified mongoose, B6-0, B6-6. High but normal flight. The rubber and was still attached. If I get another I’ll use two bands or add tape.
