Going by the hang tag, that looks right. By the 80's it had a four digit catalog number. The K number made me think it was older. Does it also have the number 1256 on the packaging somewhere?

It sure does, right under K-56.

Here's a picture of three different facecards that I have for the Alpha III.

The one on the left is from 1971, the middle is the 1980s and the right one is 1993.

Bob, there was also another 4-color face card that the Alpha III used in the late '80s to 1992. Unfortunately, I no longer have the card. I bought a late red/white one from old stock at a hobby shop back in 1993. I like the red and white color scheme much better than the current orange and black combo. The older scheme did not suck as much light out of the area .

You mean that you don't have one of everything that Estes ever produced?

Not too easy to see Bob, but there is one to the left/middle in this picture between the older, yellow ones. I believe it was an early 80's package.

Less than you want to get for it.

Most likely you will be disappointed in what you will get for a yellow header card Alpha III.
One of the most highly produced kits from that era.
I would not be surprised if there are literally thousands still unbuilt in existence.

Thanks, Scott.

I think I bought and built an Alpha III which had that type of packaging. I 'may' have that facecard 'somewhere'.

I believe that packaging was late 1980s-pre-1993.
