Hey, what's wrong with that hideous yellow paint job? It's hideous, I know!

Said in a 'Magnum' voice!

The Viking went to the field with me tonight, but my masking tape didn't. Thus only rockets with engine hooks flew. Then again, I ran out of light and battery juice before I got all of the hooked birds flying.

Comrades:

I thought I'd dredge up this old thread to post a picture of my nephew's Viking for Cub Scouts against yesterday morning's clear, blue Texas sky. He did a great job. It's his third rocket. We used a decal from Gordy (Excelsior Decals) to give it a retro look.

We'd love to see some other Vikings, especially ones done like the old Akela-1. I don't know what some of you have experienced, but I note that all of the kids in his den opted for a five fin version.

Also, if anybody from Estes is reading this, you need to sell Bulk Pack A8-5s. It's the perfect engine for this rocket.

I second this motion. Bring back the A8-5 bulk pack, please....

(though buying three-packs from AC Supply gets the price in the right ballpark as long as the order is big enough for free shipping)

I've been begging for the A8-5 bulk pack for probably about 20 years. The A8-3 delay way too short for any of the bulk kits, not counting the lead weight Crayon rockets.

I have one set of Centuri red decals left but I found two decal sets for the Star Trooper, (one yellow and one in gold metallic). I think that may have been another Cub Scout decal .

Anybody know?

Free, all three sets, to the first person willing to do a build thread on the Viking.

I’ll take you up on that, Gordon...

But no, I don’t know about the Star Trooper.

Just checked Gordy, did you sell all of them Centuri Viking Decals?
If not, put one aside for my next order please.
Will go nice with the Estes old style Viking decals I just picked up from you.
