Oh man, this brings back some memories! I first heard of AAA back around 83 and when I saw them carrying *motors above Estes*, that was that. Wound up getting my first AT motors, F10s (with the little yellow/black wrap around a bare casing), Crown Rocket Technologies F67s, and of course, good ole FSI E5s and F7s plus F100s.

Once I got my grubby mitts on THESE, I was forever hooked on midpower, and I couldnt wait to get new catalogs from AAA every year during the mid 80s. Drool, drool, even if there werent any gliders..........

I bought my first midpower kits from Andrake. The Nike Ram upscale, an American Dream, and eventually a Magnum Penn Crude.

I still have a 1:9 scale Aerobee in my build queue.

I think I bought my first big motors from him as well. Once I launched that American Dream with a G80 it was all over.

I still have a few freaky 1988 vintage Aerotech motors I bought from Andrake when he was a vendor at the 1991 Pearl River Convention. A couple of F44-0, a F101-15, and some oddball E motors.

Got my first mid power kits from him too. The Cherokee-G, and the Nike Ram. I still have both, though the Cherokee's baffle system eventually caused burn through of the body tube. I built a scratch Cherokee-G with a set of decals I bought from AAA to replace it. They always returned hand written notes when I bought something or had a question about a product.

I love sanding.

Al Andrake was such a nice guy to deal with. After Crown closed up he still had some stock of their thick airframe tubes same as used in the Crown Lasor series kits and the hemlock hardwood nose cones. Semroc LT-125 would be the modern day equivalent of the size I favored most and 1-1/4" dowel rod made for good homemade hardwood bulkheads to clone the Lasor-134 ..... one of my favorite high altitude fliers. I bought my parts and some Crown motors from him. He had a good selection of F and G composite motors and was well stocked on parts.

AAA was pretty much my only source for these parts that I was aware of and I also cloned the EnerJet 2650 from the plan sets Al sold through the catalog.

Great memories of that company and my early ventures into composite motors in minimum or near minimum diameter rockets.

Wow, I actually have that catalog!

I also have my HVTV Sentry that is still going strong. It's one of the prettiest 3 29mm clusters around! (IMHO) I wish I could find a replacement AAA shield logo for that one fin, though.

The last time I saw him was at a Pearl River Convention ( I forget which one, they all blur together now.) He was a great guy.

Do you have a copy of the design, perhaps in the catalog.

If so I bet Sandman could make you one.

Nope I can't find one in color....I'll keep looking, though.
