Default Do Not Buy From...

I'm taking an unusual stance here that I normally do not take. But, I HATE spam! I own a number of different domain names. Yesterday, I was spammed at all of them using various addresses, including webmaster, by Discount Rocketry. They sent out an ad for a back to school sale. I'm sorry, but I will not tolerate spamming. I'm urging my members to NOT buy from this company. They have two different domains they use, discountrocketry.com and modelrockets.us. The spam I got was for modelrockets.us, but through the discountrocketry.com domain.

I received the same ad a couple weeks ago via email. I have ordered from them in the past(and had decent service) so I didn't think anything of it or regard it as spam since I probably willingly gave them my address.

I've never ordered from them. Like I said, I own many domains and all of them got hit, even domains having nothing to do with model rocketry. It went to many default "names" at each domain as well.

Yep, me too!

But I'll get over it.

Add me to the list. Why would I but bulk packs from another MFG?

I went to their Contact Us page this morning and wrote them a note blasting them for doing their blitz run of email ads.

No reply yet.

Same thing happened to me and I had the same thought.

It really seems odd that a company would do a "SPAM" blitz and actually think it would increase sales.

Well, to be honest, I had forgotten about them. It's been a while and I only ordered from them one time. It did cause me to visit their website again. If nothing else it probably does increase awareness. So yes, it might cause folks to visit, compare prices, and ultimately consider a purchase. I don't like spam either, and to target forum domains doesn't seem right. But Scott may be doing them a favor by bringing up their name rather than to ignore it and leave them to their obscurity. Sometimes bad publicity is better than no publicity at all (although, I'm not so sure if that rings true around these parts )

I've never ordered from them, but had three personal e-mail accounts as well as our rocketry club e-mail account all hit with the spam message you described. A minor nuisance at worst. I just hit "delete". Matter resolved.
