Roy's passive-aggressive rocket auction
In a recent thread here, I posted a list of the unbuilt rocket kits I have hanging around here, and I realized I just have too many rocket kits.
So, I'm going to sell some. Some. Maybe a few, maybe a lot. I dunno. Depends. You get a chance to help me determine how many to sell, by bidding on them. ================================================== == HERE ARE THE RULES Bidding is open through September 16, 2010. Bid through email to rocketbids@roygreen.com . Do NOT bid in this thread. Ask questions in this thread. Do NOT ask questions by email, or by private message. All answers will be public. And please, be careful not to quote this entire message in yours, ok? Bid as many times as you want. You can bid on individual rockets, or you can bid on blocks that you define. Some of the kits HAVE been opened. I'll try and update the list when I can, but you can always ask in this thread. Most of the boxed kits are NOT shrinkwrapped. No bid is binding. I may or may not accept the highest bid. For instance, though I will entertain bids on the Centuri Little Joe II, I almost certainly will not sell it. There are probably a number of rockets like that. But don't let that stop you from making an offer/bid. I may or may not report highest bids so far in this thread. I may end up not selling a thing! If I accept your bid, I will contact you via email sometime after September 16 to agree on payment and shipping. If I don't, you won't hear from me. Preferred payment method will be Paypal. Any other method will incur a delay. The binding moment will be the Paypal receipt. Have fun, and maybe we can do some bidnez. ------------------------------------------------------------- Manufacturer (quantity if more than one) rocket name (additional notes) aerotech astrobee d (open) aerotech hv arcas (open) apogee centrix apogee (2) delta III (one open) apogee maxima 1/2a-a boost glider apogee maxima b boost glider apogee saturn 1b (open) apogee saturn V (open) asp super loki dart (open) bms (3) mars snooper centuri apollo little joe II (1/45) centuri skylab (open) cmr d-region tomahawk (open) cosmodrome vostok custom matra dr zooch saturn 1b dr zooch space shuttle dr.zooch luna (open) edmonds deltie airshow estes (2) 36 d squared estes alien invader (original) estes alpha (80's) estes alpha (90's) estes (3) alpha (k25) estes (2) army patriot estes (3) baby bertha estes battlestar galactica laser torpedo (shrink wrapped) estes big daddy estes big daddy E estes (2) black brant II estes blackhawk estes blu-97b estes blue ninja estes boeing a.l.c.m. cruise missile (the kit, not the little RTF) estes broadsword estes (2) canadian arrow estes cc-express estes challenger-II estes cosmos mariner estes crossbow sst estes dark star estes (3) deep space transport estes (2) der V3 estes dragonship 7 estes (2) d-region tomahawk (2009 version) estes (3) e2x bandit (one is launchables version) estes e2x rampage estes eagle boost glider estes (2) echostar estes eggspress estes eliminator estes (2) honest john (collector's series maxi brute) estes honest john (k27 open) estes honest john (maxi brute box re-release) estes honest john #1919 estes (2) interceptor estes (2) interceptor E estes (4) jupiter c estes laser twin estes (2) ltv scout estes maniac estes (2) mars lander (one in box, one parts complete in a shopping bag) estes mars snooper (collector's edition) estes maxi alpha 3 estes menace estes mercury redstone (2" plastic fins) estes mercury redstone (2" wood fins) estes (2) mercury-atlas estes night wing estes nike ajax estes (2) nike apache estes odyssey estes optima estes (2) orbital transport (classic series) estes (3) outlander estes (2) pathfinder estes patrol cruiser excalibur estes paveway estes photon disruptor II estes python estes recruiter estes (2) renegade (2 stage) estes (5) ricochet estes (2) rubicon estes sandhawk estes (2) saturn 1b 1/100 (one open, one sealed) estes saturn v (#2001) estes saturn v (#2157) estes (2) scissor wing transport (plastic hub) estes screamin' mimi estes shrike estes (2) sizzler (bt60 rear eject) estes skywriter estes solar flare estes (2) spaceshipone (one in launchables package) estes (2) spaceshipone e estes sr-71 blackbird estes star stryker estes star trek enterprise (25th ann) estes star trek enterprise (original from 1976) estes star trek klingon battle cruiser (25th ann) estes starfighter combo --- orion starfighter and torellian invader estes stormchaser estes strikefighter estes super big bertha (shrink wrapped) estes terrier sandhawk (open) estes titan IIIe estes (3) V2 (#1952 - Since you may not even sell anything, why not consider shipping to Canada, eh?

Agreed -- this should be fun to participate, even just watch, if bids are posted. Re: Little Joe II, I understand the reasoning to probably decline to sell it. I'm interested to see what this kit can actually drum up in dollar potential. A Centuri Orion just went for over $300 on eBay, so there is apparently plenty of collectors willing to throw large sums of cash at rare kits.

You will need to post high bid. That way someone would be able to bid more if necessary if he falls behind on an item of interested.

Tell me about the condition of your LTV Scouts, Sandhawk, Pro Series Terrier-Sandhawk and Pro Series Patriot. (i.e. sealed or not, condition of balsa and tubes, etc)

On the same night as the Orion (last night, Sunday) a Little Joe II 1/45 DID sell and it went for about $407, as I recall. Not mine and I did not purchase (I have my appropriate share of those). The Orion which sold last night, btw, was the 'boxed' version. Now, my vintage Orion (which I still fly) was purchased in '78 when Centuri discontinued the Orion (though I had lusted after one ever since it was intro'd in '71) and I paid....now get this.....$2.95 'discontinued' price! But anyway, the interesting thing about the 'discontinued' Orion I received from Centuri during that sale is that it was this same boxed version. Does anyone know exactly when the boxed version was released? I know at one time several of the Centuri kits were released in boxed versions (the Long Tom, maybe the Space Shuttle, and possible a couple others), but I'm not sure exactly when they were released in boxed form. I don't believe that was their 'original issue' form. Anyway....it was interesting to see a kit I paid $2.95 for '78 go for over $300 last night. If only I'd known as a 16 year old kid in '78 that $2.95 would eventually go for over $300, not sure how many I would have bought! (well, yes, actually I do: exactly ONE, 'cause that was about all the money I had at the time anyway....rocketry was always a 'stretch' thing budget-wise 'back in the day', as it was for many of you, too I assume. I remember that $15.95 price for a Centuri Saturn V seemed like a million dollars to me). If anyone knows the background on the Centuri boxed kits, I'd be all ears. Thanks, Earl
