Add a full-wave tuned pipe and premium fuel and a Stihl will really scream.
All the competition chain saws have custom tuned expansion chambers.
MORRRRRRRE POWRRRRRRRR !

Poulan is still alive and kicking, made in Arkansas. They were bought by Husqvarna, so not USA owned. Some of the cheaper Husky's are made in Nashville, Arkansas in the same factory with Poulanj. Some are, or at least were, rebadged Poulans. I think the top end Husky saws are still imported from Sweden, but that may have changed. I believe the Rancher engine is made in Sweden, shipped to the US to be finished and fitted with a USA Oregon bar and chain. Husky has bought out several other brands of outdoor power equipment too.

I was at their plant several years ago installing machinery. My company is one of their vendors. They gave me an awesome plant tour! Even the 2-cycle engines are made right there--right down to the casting of the pistons and crankshafts.

I bought another Poulan to replace the one #3 son fubared, and it was a piece of crap. Difficult to start, and then to keep running. I'll never own another Poulan again. A dealer told me Husquavarna made it their cheap big box store saw.

I'm going to take a wild guess and think that the cheaper green Poulans are probably outsourced 3rd world manufacture, and the yellow Poulan Pros are probably still made (assembled with parts from who knows where) in Arkansas with the cheaper Husky brands. I don't know how much crossover they have.

Buy a Stihl and you wont have to worry about it being a junk-heap.

They have some lower end saws too, but generally, I'd agree.

Seems like a consensus, ace is the only place that advertises a price around here, I’ll have to call around and see.

Thanks all!
