Just remember that they will all give trouble if you leave fuel in them for long periods of time. 2 cycle oil has some stuff in it that works like Sta-bil, but it will eventually varnish and mess with jetting and the float.

As for the ethanol vs pure gas debate, I have to drive across town to get "pure" gas. I just get regular ethanol and spend a buck every three or four years for new fuel lines on my outdoor tools. I've never had any issues with o-rings, gaskets, etc.

The fuel is a drawback, I have run a two cycle blower with no issues but that got used every season for months on end so it’s not the same.

So when done cutting, and with an indefinite break before using it again, would you empty it and run it til the lines are clear?

I don't have issues if only letting one sit a few months, but if it was going to be longer than a southern winter (I need to do one last mowing right now) then I'd run it dry.

Make sure there is no gas left in the bowl, also. You'll have to remove it...pretty simple. Running it dry does not usually empty the bowl completely. The fuel will separate and the little bits will clog your carb jets.

I have had great luck using Sta-bil in my two strokes stored many months over Southern winters plus. I put it in all my fuel before I fill up the gas can.
Works really well.

Sea Foam is a far better stabilizer/cleaner than Sta-Bil.

Both are great for gas, but good 2 stroke oil will keep the fuel healthy for a pretty long time without having to add anything else.

+1 on the SeaFoam for 4-stroke gas, but for preservative, Klotz octane booster is even better.

For 2-strokes, Klotz Original Techniplate (not Super with Castor which can congeal) oil is a great fuel stabilizer.

Yes, there is such a thing as NORMAL
, if you have to ask what is "NORMAL" , you probably aren't !

Failure may not be an OPTION, but it is ALWAYS a POSSIBILITY.
ALL systems are GO for MAYHEM, CHAOS, TURMOIL, FIASCOS, and HAVOC !

I agree with this. We use the Stihl oil at the firestation, and I use it at home. Never experienced a problem, but I also tend not to keep a can of old gas sitting around for many months.
