What happened to the "new" Aerotech Enerjets?
Hi all,
Just wondering...have searched all saved retailer links; one has the E-30's but no F's. Bob

Gary Rosenfield just now talked about them. Evidently they are still in development, to the point that they haven't decided which to eventually release. Possibly an F52.

Totally agree. Make them low smoke like the old Enerjets. Make them the same shape and n-sec level. The F67 should be 80n-sec.

I think it’s really cool that Gary is going all out to do an Enerjet homage. I wonder if Enerjets had any influence on him getting into the motor buisiness.

Irv Wait of Rocket Development Corp. was an engineer at Thiokol. He produced what was the first commercially available composite motor with the Enerjet 8. Composite fuel that lit a fuse in the exhaust to activate a delay train and ejection. He also produced larger motors for industry and colleges.
Centuri had the MiniMax Black Powder motors that evolved from the Atlas and Hercules lines that were from Coasters. Centuri hired Irv to come to Phoenix and develop the Centuri Enerjet line in the early 1970s. I took a picture of Lee Piester and Irv Wait at NARAM-12 in Houston with a Centuri Saturn V powered by an Enerjet 24. Also caught the liftoff - very little visible flame - with an old Argo camera. I do not know if the Enerjet motors influence Gary at that time. I did have discussions with a motor developer what thought that the F67 could be made for $1.50 in late 1970 prices. Until I mentioned overhead, insurance, advertising, etc. Material is cheap. Everything else is a cost.

As I recall, Gary was all over Enerjet motors back in the day...VERY big influence on him. Earl

Yes, his early ProJet motors were similar to the Enerjets (except his had delays that worked!). I've often commented to him that I liked those slow liftoff with no smoke then *DISAPPEAR!* motors. If he emulates the thrust curve as well as the no-smoke, he'll have to educate most of the current clientele who are used to good liftoff speeds. I'll plug my "Rocket Film 1968-1980" video on the royatlvideo YouTube channel, which has three or four Enerjet flights, and toward the end, a ProJet F rocket (a one pound 4" to 2.6" rocket-- a Centuri Saturn V mated to a Maxi Alpha) so you can see how they flew.
