Yeah, I'm at 243 after this launch and at this point I have an outside shot at 250 depending on the weather. We still have one cornfield launch scheduled and B6-4 Field is always a threat if it stays above flood stage.

Eighth flight of the day would be the Estes Astron X-Ray that I cloned several years ago, but had only flown once before today. Seeing it on the pad in the bright sunlight makes me wonder why. The Rocket Red paint really pops and is set off nicely by the white. The decal adds a nice vintage touch. I really lucked out with the crayons on this one.
The A8-3 flight was more than enough for the field. High and fairly straight, it topped out around 350' and ejection occurred over the infield. The same vintage Estes 6" chute handled the recovery and brought it down fast and straight to the dirt at shortstop.

Turns out I was wrong about the Initiator being my only mini engine bird on the day. Flight #9, the unfortunate final flight of the day, would be the Estes DOM Long John Silver, a minimum diameter BT-5 rocket with a checkered flight history. The flight would be on another 1/2A3-4T with streamer recovery.
The LJS was quick off the pad and attained impressive altitude before tipping over and ejecting. The ejection charge sounded like it went off right next to me, and the body of the LJS immediately began racing toward the outfield grass, burying itself deeply. I scanned the skies for the nose cone/streamer/shock cord assembly. I walked the field. I walked the parking lot. I walked US 27. Never saw a thing.

At this point in the day, the pad had nine flights, several attempts at launching the Point and a couple of attempts at the Luna Bug, so maybe 14 button punches. I attempted to launch several of the other prepped rockets that I had in the box, but no joy. Second launch in a row that the Estes Rogue Voyager wound up being one of the unlucky ones. So, I packed up and headed for home, sorely disappointed in the performance of the Energizer Max batteries. Next time out I'll spring for Duracells.
