Tim,

Since I'm a southender I seldom got to Galaxy Hobbies. It was an obligatory stop if I was coming home after having to go to a meeting in Everett, but otherwise I didn't get there. I know about that Hobby Lobby. I think the last time I visited Galaxy I parked kind of between them and went to both stores. That would have been over five years ago.

What they carried overlapped very little, so I can see that they didn't really think Hobby Lobby was a threat. It could have even worked the other way a little - go over to Galaxy to pick up something that HL didn't have. I'm sorry to hear they are gone. I'm not surprised the space is still vacant considering - pandemic....

It might have been more like the long lamented Webster Hobby: the landowner raised the lease price to where the shop felt they couldn't continue and either couldn't or wouldn't find another site.

The best hobby store in Manchester, NH was called 606.

That was the street address, 606 South Willow St.

The store opened sometime in the 60's.

In 89 or 90 it got broken in to several times.

The thieves stole only R/C cars, radio's and batteries.

The owner had enough and sold the business.

Some fat cat bought it, ran it for a few months then closed it.

It was a toy store on one side and a hobby store on the other.

I spent thousands of dollars there over the years.

I miss that store.
