CZ-5B down (and Falcon 9 launch in < 2 hours!)
China is now reporting (see: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rPw6wPgtCb8 ) that the Long March 5B (CZ-5B) core stage re-entered at 02:24 UTC at 72.47 E and 2.65 N, which is right over the Maldives (off India’s southwest coast—there should be some spectacular video of the re-entry soon!). ALSO:
In less than 3 hours https://spaceflightnow.com/2021/05/...h-early-sunday/, SpaceX will launch a Falcon 9 carrying more of its Starlink internet satellites from Cape Canaveral (live feed *here*: https://spaceflightnow.com/2021/05/...-status-center/ ); it will—if it’s clear (and this website will carry it live online)—be spectacular from the eastern U.S.! This will be their first attempt to recover a Falcon 9 first stage that has flown 10 times (their reusability is why SpaceX’s launch costs are so low; Rocket Lab https://www.rocketlabusa.com/is also working on recovering and reusing their much smaller Electron rocket’s first stages).
