Default Laser Patterns For Models

I'm starting this thread for posting various patterns from models, such as fins and alignment guides, that need to be laser-cut. The process is to draw the outlines in Corel Draw 10 format, which is the language Carl's death ray speaks.

There are some basic requirements for the patterns, and I'll post a list soon, to open this up to everyone. Understand, this is not to suggest that SEMROC will produce all of these items just because they show up here. But it will make it easier for Carl to pull a pattern for something if someone wants it bad enough.

Default Estes MegaSizz #1998 - Fins, Fin Guides

To start this thread off, since there is a build thread in the "Projects" section for a classic original MegaSizz, I thought I'd work up a set for anyone wanting to clone the kit. There are three patterns requiring four total pieces - two identical 3" x 9.6" x 1/8" balsa sheets for the fins, and two 6" x 6" x 0.05" matteboard pieces for the guides.

The fin patterns are based on the existing plan scans found on YORP: Estes #1998 MegaSizz

Default Estes #1390 Aero-Fin - Fins

This is an odd-ball that did not remain in the catalog for very long. The fins are fragile, and the parachute can tangle easily. The original required you to cut the fins using a cardstock pattern, so the chances of getting two fins identical were remote at best.

Default Estes #1937 Astro - Fins

Another from my personal "built once upon a time" collection. This is a really good flying rocket, and is very simple to build.

I'm calling out 3/32" sheet because my memory says they were thicker than a Wizard, which was 1/16" thick.

Thanks!

Yes, as long as the fin pattern is available. Most of these being posted here initially are either those I personally built, or really drolled over in my "first BAR days"...

Name yer poison!

posted a new thread, but feel free to move here if deemed appropriate.

Neat you posted the Astro... that is one I need to build.

Back in the day, I had the Sunbird, my brother had the Laser, and my cousin built the Astro, think we all got and built em together.

I have already cloned the sunbird and Laser, although the inkjet decals for the Laser are too transparent ....

Gordy, here is one for you - a Laser/ Sunbird/ Astro group set, like the mini brute sets.. I'd buy a set

I'll try to get the Laser fins up tonight. This one is a "three-fer", since it was used for (at least) three rockets - Laser #1938, #1991 Zipper, and #1991 Blue Star. I'll also get the Sunbird up tonight. Those were among my personal "originals" 25+ years ago...

I believe the Laser,as you posted, uses the same fins as the Mini Mean Machine. but not certain,as I don't have the kits handy right now.

That's one more thing for YORS... fin interchange list, maybe I'll work that up, anything like that posted ?
