This is super cool that you are both up sizing and and down sizing this model

You can piece the plywood together in as many small pieces as needed until you get what the size is for the larger wings. You can also lay out the pieces so the grain direction of the plywood parts are more beneficial to resist warping of the wings.

The HARDEST part of this build for me was getting the narrow paper tale cone shaped without getting a seam into it or have the glue tab doubler showing through. I formed mine over a broom stick and then I think I even got a smaller hard round object and formed it some more. You can't just roll this thing over until the ends meet and glue them together; it needs to be formed into shape.

A long cone like that is well suited to the "integrated tube"-tm method. I think Estes has the resources to have it laser cut. This is also well suited to any upscale as it is considerably stronger than a traditional shroud.

Well, I got tired of pining for a laser cutter, and I haven’t put a spindle on my CR10, so I decided to try my hand with a scroll saw.

I think they came out ok.

Latest progress:

I took a little liberty with the upscale. I was looking at Low Boom concepts on another thread and really liked the twin stabilizers.

Yes. The ‘Wouldn’t it be cool if Frank Burke made X’ thread.

Flights:

73% on a B4-3. Underpowered for a 9 mph wind. Glad I didn’t try the A10
https://youtu.be/BfpIsXfJIV8

Original scale on a C6-3. Felt way underpowered- but flew and recovered. Took a big chip out of a wing corner.

And the 150% upscale on a 2 grain F51. Straightest flight. It out performed the OpenRocket guesstimate; looks like it could have used a longer delay, but it didn’t pick up any damage.
