Hope you have better luck than I did. I think it's a real dog. Good idea, mediocre execution.

I agree. I didn't have any real luck with it either. And don't try flying it with a "C" else loops galore.

Hmm...I'd feel more confident about its boost stability if the motor nozzle was at least even with (and preferably forward of) the *leading* edge of the wing.

Didn't you wonder about that steel ball bearing that they have you put in the nose cone? Or was that in the glider? I don't remember much- I got mine right after they first came out. kj |

Yea, I noticed the motors seemingly wrong placement when I saw the first picture of this kit and wondered why Estes did this, seeing as us 'old fat guys who know better' always have it more forward so as to use the motors weight as positive boost ballast. But then, Estes isnt selling these things to *us* per se, but to the multitudes of people who havent any knowledge of front motor convie BG's. And we/Estes knows that if they had the motor at LE that foam wing would necessitate flameproofing, and most average Joes would likely forget that or not want ugly chrome tape messing up the nice artsy wing. I have seen several of these fly, and none of them ever boosted straight enough, and only one kinda sorta glided. I still cant believe how heavy one of these with pod really is for such a small glider. Plastic, plastic..... BTW, I saw one that actually buckled the wing under boost with an A8! |

Well, I don't know what I am doing wrong, but my Eagle B/G works just fine.
I have only flown it once since I built it just after the kit was released. I flew it this past March using a B6-2 motor and had a nice flight/glide time of 20-30 seconds (I wasn't timing it). I look forward to flying it on one of the new Quest C6-3s at some point. Bob |

mega baron
Does anyone have the mega baron? If so how do you like it?

You might want to start a separate thread rather than hijack this one... That said, I built one, but not stock--added R/C. First flight was a problem, heavy winds, and it never stood much of a chance, nose-diving and ejecting the motor/pod just before impact. I've repaired it but haven't gotten around to reflying it. I have flown the regular Red Baron a number of times, always a great glider, and have to think the Mega Baron would do very well also, but I am not too hot when it comes to R/C mods and suspect I botched this one on my own. |
