Default Semroc Sprint and SLS Arcas build

Well my Sprint is DONE! Cant wait for the October launch, cause its goin!! The Arcas is going well, im about to start attaching the fins, which looks to be a little tricky due to the extra pieces that attach to the fin and the body tube...need to take my time..dont want to screw it up! Semroc kits are just a real pleasure to build....things fit well, really nice quality parts.....im sure The G-kids and myself will be building many more.....SUPER nice folks to deal with! I was wondering if anybody uses automotive type primers and paints to finish thier models with? What about fillers and such........i use alot of Dupont Corlar primers and Imron Paints to finish my model boats with, but after reading several posts regarding primers and paint for rockets im not sure if automotive stuff is really necessary..... I finished my Bull Pup and my Sprint with Krylon rattlecan primer and paint and they seemed to come out just fine!

Automotive paints BY FAR are the absolute best finishing systems for hobby projects, but for most they are prohibitively expensive except for the primers.
Imron BY FAR is the BEST paint money can buy as far as toughness.
I am FAR from a "safety beatnik" but Imron has a solvent package that is incredibly nasty; I hope when you shoot that you are using a fresh air respirator or at least a mask that traps 100% of isocyanate content. Imron finish is unbelievably great, but one can really mess themselves up thinking they can shoot it just like they were spraying Krylon or Testors enamel.

Typically I finish with good old fashioned new-old-stock Pactra Aero-Gloss butyrate dope shot from a badger airbrush.

Failure may not be an OPTION, but it is ALWAYS a POSSIBILITY.
ALL systems are GO for MAYHEM, CHAOS, and HAVOC !

Wow. An old Futaba 4FG transmitter. Dont see those much anymore.
I still use my old Futaba Eqipment from the late 80's. Obviously it has been narrow-banded.
I have a 8JN and a 7FGK Tx that get used almost everytime I fly R/C.

Yep! I still fly and race model boats on FM...even AM....the only 2.4 Gig radio stuff i have came with some Park Zone electric planes i have and it works GREAT, but im just gonna let the prices of the new stuff go down, which they will before i take the plunge.....there sure is ALOT more channels open for the old stuff now, thanks to 2.4Gig! I still believe that proper installation is still just as important as what kind of radio one uses......i still have very good luck with my AM stuff to this day.......

My old J-series 8JN is on AM and to this day is my favorite radio. Usually my best aircraft gets it and I have never had any trouble on AM.
My 7FGK, Super 7 and other radios are on FM.
