Default Virgin Orbit Launcher One

We've finally got a new booster that has fins! Virgin Orbit's Launcher One has a transition section and fins, and even a few fiddly bits, making for an interesting scale subject. It flew the other day, but a broken O2 line caused shutdown and failure to orbit.

It looks pretty big next to the tech, but it looks small hanging under the 747 in a full view.

Gosh, real fins! I can almost see a quick scale knock-off using the old Centuri PNC-132 nose cone to a section of ST-13 tubing, then balsa transition to a section of ST-16 tubing.

Put in a suggestion to Virgin management - offer a model rocket kit of Launcher One. Shucks, offer a kit of SpaceShip Two! If they want to differentiate themselves from other launch companies, get kids excited about THEIR design (vs. an Electron or New Shepard, for instance)...

BTW, Blackshire posted about the Launcher One project back in 2012. I'm only posting because of Virgin's recent activities.

Virgin is a pretty wide spread company and Richard is interested in all kinds of adventures. I doubt they focused resources as tightly toward space as Musk did with Space-X. Musk was very aggressive in getting funding and putting it to use. Even Blue Origin with billions of Amazon revenue is still just lofting Mercury Redstone shots (and not even a dog, chimp, or monkey payload), albeit with a few stuck landings.

Without SpaceX and Elon Musk we would STILL be malingering around at the mercy of Russian Soyuz launch vehicles. NASA certainly has nothing viable to offer in a man-rated booster in the near future. The U.S. should be thankful for his efforts and NOT worrying about any Marijuana antics WHATSOEVER.

Any chance of "Elon" sharing a set of detailed, dimensioned, external drawings ?

A complete redesign takes a lot of time, although I was surprised--when the as-built design appeared--at how totally different it is from the Circa 2012 design (even the Saturn I and V designs, before they "crystallized," didn't change too much from the earliest drawings to the flight hardware).
