I have always wondered if the angle of the white section between the blue and black was intentional or a registration error. But then, this is the sort of thing I notice.

I noticed that too when I redrew those. I drew them so the points were touching because I thought it looked best that way.

It's intentional... As the white space gets narrower, it's made to look like a rocket getting smaller as it flies higher.
