Centuri had those as they not only had the 1/100 scale Saturn's, they also had a very nice Apollo/Little Joe - II. Those WERE the days.......

I know the kits they currently offer, cost the least to produce and provide a larger profit margin since most are the same thing in different decal or paint schemes (standard parts runs) but I still don't understand why they don't have have a full line of NASA rockets for their Master's Series and part of the PERMANENT line up.

If you want to snag and keep younger minds in the hobby, complexity the way to go. The brighter kids bore quickly with the 3 F NC kits and that's 80% of what Estes offers right now.

Estes makes the Saturn V a "limited release" because the market is so easily saturated. I have a suggestion for them.

Make 4 variants of it. "Collect all 4 . . ."

The current version is the "Apollo 11 Saturn V"

Make an Apollo 8 version, an Apollo 13 version, and an Apollo 17 version.

The minor variants could involve very minor decal, packaging and instructions modifications, while extending the tooling investment among more unit sales.

Maybe even make a direct from Estes only "display kit" where all 4 rockets have a home for display.

Jerry

Never enough Saturn V's.

If they are going to do that, they may as well make a special balsa nose cone and offer a SkyLab version. With the capsules and towers saved, they can reissue the Little Joe II kit.

Plastic NC and additional wraps would give you the INT-21 launcher. Plus the pretty decals for the station. I think that scale dependent the Titan III E NC would come close enough

The Titan IIIE cone fits a BT-70 so that won't work.

Although I do make a nose cone for the Skylab Saturn.

Just add a 3.5" section of BT-80 starting at the top of the third stage.

Then the roll pattern.

If you just need a command module and tower Sirius has them.

While reviewing this thread in preparation for building my Saturn V, I saw a few references to Christine of Estes; Just wanted to say thank you, again, to Christine for all she does to help us hard core rocketeers. She helped me with my Silver Comet which I have my grand daughter's name hand painted on the nose cone, aka WW II military plane style.

Santa (Tower Hobbies via UPS) came today

This is my first Estes 1/100th Saturn V of any flavor, but the kit appears to be very similar to the Centuri version. Hopefully it won't take me another 30 yr to build them!
