Thanks... probably the most simple paint job I've ever done.. gloss white with a black circumferential stripe and a blue & black water slide Estes decal.

Papering fins has almost nothing to do with the final finish. A good primer soaks into and seals the paper. Primer, sand, Primer Sealer, Paint, Apply Decals, then Clearcoat. That routine works well for me.

Nope. Go look at some that are a few years old or have been launched more than a few times. The papering looks...well, papered. And it has a ton to do with finishing. Ones lack of care and effort often shows glaringly.

You do you. It's a hobby, it's fun and there's a lot of ways to skin that cat.

I've got numerous rockets that have papered fins, some of which are 3-1/2 years old. They look the same today as they day they were finished.
