The Scrambler:2 shown in the pic from Danny is a LOUSY kit. It won't even FIT an egg in the payload. Whomever approved that turd for production should have been BANNED from the industry.

A sealed, first-issue, rainbow paper hang-tag, Estes #1336 ALCM Cruise Missile kit just sold for $52.
THAT is a REALISTIC price, unlike the totally A$ININE $336.00 Space Shuttles, and $224.00 BT55 V2 kits. There has been a real increase in IDIOT sellers and buyers of kits lately. YESSSSSSS, people that pay $300+ for Space Shuttle non-rare kits ARE IDIOTS, END of discussion.

The end of 1977 was a dark day for discontinuation of Estes kits.
The K29 Saturn 1B, K57 Astron Sky Dart, and K37 Astron Scrambler were all discontinued and missing from the 1978 catalog. That catalog added all the lousy Star Wars kits, which were the most over-produced Estes kits ever. Those 3 discontinued kits for 1978 are in my top 5 of all Estes kits.

The money that went into the Star Wars product development and production was taken away from the NCRBE product line. Had NCRBE received that money the Orbit Starter Set and G70 and F62-9 Dark Star motors would have gone into production.

Under sold, maybe.
I seriously doubt production of the Star Wars episode 1 was higher than the original 1978 product line, nor the Star Trek models either. All of those except the Maxi-Brute X-Wing are still constantly available on ebay. A few months ago I paid $34 for a MIB first-run hang tag R2D2. That is not even keeping with inflation.

Estes ‘Time Capsule’!
Well, these items could be somewhat similar to the Phantom Electro Launch from a couple weeks back.
The seller below has what appears to be an Estes parts order (still in box) along with three unopened kits, all apparently from 1967. A Big Bertha, a Drifter, and a Mark. All look mint.
