Could they be for the Soyuz mission version? Mike |

Why would the Apollo / Soyuz mission need a lunar lander?

Mis-understood what you were talking about. Was thinking if it was in the "bay" it might have been the adapter. Unfamiliar with the kits you're building. Mike |

There are two rockets, Saturn 1B and Saturn V that have a lunar lander each.
But the kit comes with 5 lunar landers. I have three extras. I have everything mostly painted and essentially built. I still have to finish the roll pattern on th Sat V and some more things on the Sat 1B but the Mercury Redstone, Mercury Atlas, and Gemini Titan are finished. There are five models total in the kit all at 1/200th scale. A good size to make a lamp. Oh…and the kit decals absolutely suck! I made replacements. I’ll post pictures tomorrow.

OK, I believe I have solved the mystery.
I have another identical AMT “Man in Space” kit. Not sealed but all of the parts are in sealed bags. The clamshell and LEM with an Apollo Command capsule, Service Module and Escape tower, all of those parts are on the same plastic sprue. There are two of those spruces packaged together, one for the Saturn V and one for Saturn 1B. The unopened kit has one bag with two sets inside. The kit I am building had TWO of those bags. This looks like the factory messed up and included a second bag with the two additional part sets. Lucky me! Here is what I have done so far. The Sat 1B and Sat V are good candidates for a table lamp project. Look at all those LEMs! each about 3/4” in diameter.

Mike, that pdf is perfect! The roll pattern of the Saturn V easier to understand. Thanks

I meant to post earlier Mike that the pdf is a great looking file. What is recommended size (diameter) of the stuffer tube shown in the pdf? I have not printed it out to see the size. Earl

Hi Earl, Just checked the diameter in AutoCAD: the dia is 0.902908". Not sized for any specific use, was downsized to fit a letter size paper, didn't care about scale, just that it would fit the paper size. BTW-It is the same rocket that is my avatar-just smaller...Was contacted years ago by someone from Huntsville, AL about doing a 1/12 scale of the Mercury 8 mission. Drawings were supplied to get it to scale as possible. Then I asked about the Saturn V, at the time did not know about Peter Alway's book, Rockets of the World. All I could find were crap drawings with bad scale issues. The person that requested the Liberty Bell, emailed the drawings. Since my rockets are air powered, not many detail parts can fly, but trying to ink everything at the proper scale and place is a very big challenge. The Redstone I drew, had rivets, the first that I've added. It was also the test bed for a wind up timer deploy system for my bigger air pressure rockets.
