Default Estes Starship Nova Re-release - Anyone get a glassine tube?

When this kit was released in mid 2017 the main tube mistakenly included in the kit was missing the glassine outer wrap. Jeffyjeep did a build thread here and noted it was also very thin so didn’t use it. I got a Starship Nova from AC Supply last week and it had the same tube. Two things, did anyone get Estes to replace the tube, and did anyone get a kit after the release that had a good tube in it?

Just looked at my kit.
It has the cruddy thin tube.
Will be replaced when building.

I think in the past Estes has corrected kits in subsequent runs like decal problems in the Der Red Max and Interceptor E. Although I love this design and don’t have the original, it took me two and a half years to get around to picking one up, I was held back partly by the tube problem. In the same order last week I tried to get a Doorknob from AC Supply and they were sold out already. It’s interesting AC supply and eRockets are still on that first run for this great design, John Boren even improved the construction and durability of the kit.

I asked Estes customer service for a glassine tube and received it.

Another kit that had a crummy main BT was the last Estes Nike Smoke I built. Good thing it was a common size: BT60.

I got bit by this too. Just opened one of my Nike Smokes I got in one of Estes’ sales from last year and it had the same dreaded tube. Kinda looks and feels like a paper towel core tube!

I’ve got some Centuri ST-16 tube I may use or see what Estes BT60 stock I have.

Just ordered a Starship Nova from AC Supply and it came with the dreaded paper towel tube. I threw that tube on my pile of nose cone-holder painting tubes and cut a good glassine coated tube from my part stash to replace it.

Same here. In fact, it’s just BARELY strong enough for that repurposing.
