Default PSA: Do you drive one of these older Toyota vehicles?

2003-2004 Corolla
2003-2004 Corolla Matrix
2004-2005 RAV4

which have not had the recalled airbags replaced?

The urgent nature of this notice would seem to indicate people are still dying due to this problem.

I've worked a lot of wrecks over the years and thankfully I haven't seen a single shrapnel throwing deployment. I've seen several that didn't deploy at all when they should have, but that's pretty much the extent of a malfunctioning air bag for me so far. I guess I need to be ready for one after "saying it out loud".

It's not just Toyota. Takata airbags were used in many, many cars. Any of them could be subject to the recall and not yet serviced.

I?m pretty sure neither one of our Jeeps have Takatas either, but I?m not sure what they DO have. What brand of airbags do MOPAR and/or FCA use?

The linked article provides an address to look up recalls: https://www.nhtsa.gov/recalls

It only shows recalls from the last 15 years - when did the Takata recalls begin?

The Big Takata Recall started in 2013. Had to have the bags in my 2009 TSX replaced because of it. Which made me wonder why Acura/Honda was using airbags from the cut-rate supplier?

My other question still is: How do I know the new bags are any better?

And since I always wear my seatbelt, why do I even need airbags in my car? <shrug>
