Very nice. Your Guillotine fin alignment tool really shines over more traditional methods with the fins attached to the tailcone on this model. I like the baffle. Is the front baffle ring plywood? .

Are the fins scale? They look a bit oversize.

The fins are scale. The tube length is slightly off.

Thanks. It really helped in this build because the curved surface literally throws a curve at you as far as longitudinal fin alignment goes. It's like having a third set of hands...only they don't tremble. Actually, there is only one baffle plate. The balsa tail cone has a through bore and the 24 mm motor mount projects both out of the rear and up into the main body tube, sort of like a short stuffer tube. It is capped off by a small plywood disk which is in turn abutted to the perforated baffle. So how does the ejection gas get out? You must cut out two rectangular "windows" in the top portion of the motor mount tube just below the baffle and just at the top of the balsa tail cone. These can be seen in the photos. Pretty neat and I'm looking forward to seeing how it performs. |

After discovering that type of baffle, I was mad I hadn't thought of it before.

Nice photos of your U.S. Rockets V-2 build on that other forum. Looks great. Funny, I don't get a single popup on that other forum. But, I'm still unable to sign up and register. Regards Larry B |

Thanks Larry. I thought I'd boost their readership but there seems to be limited interest in old school technology on that venue. So I linked it to YORF. |

YORF is 157 so the half rule delivers 80 viewers. You might mention at TRF that the U.S. Rockets V-2 2.25 is available at Apogee right now along with a few other kits like F w/ Multiple D Pods, Dual 18mm Rear Eject, Two The Limit, Hammerhead, Micro-Sentra SRB and others. Jerry |
