Satin/Flat Clear after the decals ?
Gloss Olive Green never "looks" correct on anything to me.

Even though flat tends to be a "dust magnet" I believe the "Russian-ness" of this scale-like model requires a flat clear coat.

The waterslide decals are now on and "The Vixen" has hand painted the little red pointy things.
Now I just need low enough humidity to safely shoot flat clear coat--maybe tomorrow. TBC

Looks really nice, especially after the satin clear.

The Sasha kit looks great, I guess I need to buy one. Just curious, what are you using for the 4 coats of sealer on the balsa fins? On the more complicated builds how do you sand the balsa once it is glued to the body tubes? On simple builds I find it pretty easy to sand the balsa sealer with the fins glued on. On the more complicated builds such as Orbital Transport, Puma and others I have a challenge sanding some areas once the fins glued to the rocket.

Thanks for the compliments!
I now finish ALL balsa fins the same way: (1) coat of diluted Elmer's Wood Filler, then sand smooth with 220. (1) coat of Deluxe Materials Sand'n'Seal, then sand smooth with 320. --another coat of Deluxe Materials Sand'n'Seal, then sand smooth with 320. --another coat of Deluxe Materials Sand'n'Seal, then sand smooth with 320. --a final coat of Deluxe Materials Sand'n'Seal, then sand smooth with 400. I have never, ever, finished fins before assembling them to the model. Of course, some are harder to sand than others. The Sasha I was able to sand all of then myself, but on a more "crowded" build (like the Starlight I'm working on) I'll enlist the smaller and more nimble fingers of "The Vixen".

First, your Sasha looks great! I had no idea Rustoleum made a gloss army green. I’ll have to give it a try. I usually use a flat green, but then gloss coat it before applying decals, then flat coat after decals are on. Regarding filling balsa, I had not heard of the Deluxe Materials product. The description says it should be put on diluted to prevent warping. Are you using the Elmer’s Wood Filler for first coat to minimize warping? Based on the recommendation in the past, from scigs30, for Brodak Sanding Sealer, I’m using that, and quite pleased with the results, but it’s nice to know of good alternatives.

Thanks! Rusto gloss army green is a spray enamel. It can be hard to find. Neither Lowes, HD, or Menards carries it. It can sometimes be found at Ace Hardware. Yes, I first apply the wood filler to fill the grain and the dents and then the Deluxe. Deluxe is from England and it too can be hard to find, but a container of it lasts a LONG time. Until it became scarce I used Aerogloss filler coat and sanding sealer almost exclusively. I still have a few jars of each left, but I have to use it sparingly now. If and when Deluxe becomes impossible to find I’ll go to the Brodak, but for now I have a couple jars of Deluxe in reserve.
