It's better to check in here first, rather than have many people call Estes with the same question.

I lost the little white plastic screw-on motor/fin-unit retainer. Is it possible to get a replacement from Estes?

Probably, but you could go over to TRF and find the thread with the deranged ranting about unstable flights (because they did not install the motor so it was fully and properly seated) and the melting of the upper plastic mount when using a D10 motor (not recommended). The folks who ruined theirs amy be willing to send you a aft screw cap motor retainer. especially if they retrofitted a cardboard MMT and hook.

Thanks but no thanks - I actively dislike that jahill4 guy and I will not enter the discussion over there. So many people get a warped perception of the hobby over there.

The demise of my little screw cap was due to much more mundane causes. It rolled off a table, where it was soon swept up by someone who didn't know what it was, and was discarded.

This may be an opportunity for me to design and install a new motor mount.

It was mentioned that the 18mm plastic retainer set will be available soon from Estes. Some time this month, per Jumpjet. I'll be picking up a few.

Me too. I keep checking for them. I really like the Rocketarium aluminum retainer sets. I’ve used both 18mm and 24mm retainer sets for years. But I only use them on rockets I typically fly with reloads. The Rocketarium sets fit the 18/20 and 24/40 RMS perfectly, but too pricey for me to use on rockets I know will mostly fly on BP motors.

Note to anyone considering the Rocketarium 24mm retainer — it does not fit the newer 24/60 RMS. That is a more robust RMS, with a heavier tube and closure, more like the 29/40-120 set. The 24/60 aft closure just won’t fit in the Rocketarium retainer set.

UPDATE: eRockets has them. Search under “New”.

The one on the Saturn is pretty long, they look too short.

Do you mean these? These were all I could find:
http://www.erockets.biz/estes-acces...-set-of-3-3187/
If so, then you are mistaken. These are not the same (or replacement) motor retainers for the RTF Saturn V rocket.

So, so sorry ... I didn’t read ALL the posts. You are right, I am mistaken. These aren’t for the Saturn.

Dang, I feel like I posted over on TRF ...

These might come in handy for modifying a Saturn, but will they secure the fin can? Just what I needed - another rocket project that I probably won't get to.

Any of the BT-50 size ARF models that Estes has produced in the past 8 years that have the screw on retainer should also work on the 1/200th Saturn V. The new 18mm retainers coming out as a stand alone product are not compatible with the Saturn V.
