Yea, but it'll probably have a train set in it instead

Don't think I wouldn't consider it.
"Dear Bill, have you considered water rockets?"

It DOES sound like you got to experience the real FSI flavor of yesteryear.
A cato rate approaching 50 percent.
If I did not know better I would think somebody pulled the ol' whack-the-motor on the side with a sledge to cause cato's DEE-LIBERATE.

Yes, there is such a thing as NORMAL
, if you have to ask what is "NORMAL" , you probably aren't !

Failure may not be an OPTION, but it is ALWAYS a POSSIBILITY.
ALL systems are GO for MAYHEM, CHAOS, and HAVOC !

I like building rockets, and I like when CATO pics turn out, but not that much.

I hear ya, Bill.
I like building them NEW about as much as flying them.
I HATE rebuilding them, especially due to a cato.
I just must be lucky.
I have only had maybe 5 Estes engine catos in 36 years in the hobby, and know AT LEAST two of those were due to deliberate sabotage of my motors. One was a C5-3 that destroyed a pristine pre-damon Mars Lander.
Now as far as FSI motors go, my cato rate was at least 30%. For the F100 it was about 40% and the E60 it was over 60%.
Quality control was SEVERELY lacking at FSI on the E60, and also on later production F100's

Neither of the two of mine that CATOd have any chance of repair. I'm going to build another Dart, but I'll find something else to do with the Rascal cone. Too much balsa in that bird to do it all again.

How did the spent C11-0 case look? Was it split down the side? The good thing was that it appears the rocket was undamaged.

What was the post mortem on the motor? Did it split the case? Or just blow its guts out forward with the spent case and nozzle, still together, ejecting out the back?

Did you recover the motor/tube? I take it the side of the motor let go? Otherwise, I wouldn't expect a blowout in the side of the rocket...
