Estes/Semroc Shrike Plans Wanted
Hello, All
I'm looking to make my first attempt at a multi-stage rocket (something I was not able to do at my home flying field due to recovery constraints and never thought to do with my club due to being distracted by high-power). A long while ago, I made a mental note that the Semroc Shrike was the kit I wanted to build whenever I got around to multi-stage builds. Its aesthetics appealed to me in a way most two-stage kits don't. It doesn't have the oversized, awkward-looking fins that most designs do, and I'm a sucker for clear payload sections. In short, I'm now kicking myself hard for not buying one when I had a chance. However, my living arrangements for my next year of college include a garage with ample space for a small work table, and I haven't scratch-built anything in far too long. So, assuming there will not be a kit form of this design in the near future, does anyone have the plans for either the Estes or Semroc incarnation of this design? Also, if anyone has a complete kit they're willing to part with, I'm open to discussions. Thanks for any response.

Good place to start here: http://www.spacemodeling.org/jimz/estes/estk-46.pdf
Some of the parts to build this rocket are still available at SEMROC. BTW we met last year in the pasture at Discovery Bay, TARC team .

Go to this link, if you have not already, and you can download the Semroc instruction set for their Shrike.
Not exactly a full 'template' for making a clone, but a good starting place in addition to the Estes plans John referenced above. Earl http://www.semroc.com/store/scripts...s.asp?SKU=KV-37 .

Hi, John! Thanks for the link (I somehow forgot about Jimz site). Semroc had almost everything (and I grabbed a Saki to get past the minimum order limit). Now I just need to hunt down some clear BT-50 tube.

SEMROC has that too. http://www.semroc.com/Store/Products/BodyTubes.asp OOPS! I guess they don't have any left.

Unfortunately, they're out of the PST-50 tubing.

Yep, I had the exact same thought, but then jumped over to their site and, like an increasing number of parts and kits, there are no more. Dang. Earl

If it is the standard length BT-50 clear payload section, you can get that from Estes - the 3171 clear payload section will have at least one in there, or swipe it from a kit like the loadstar.

Thanks for the tip. I believe it is the standard length (4").
