I'm still interested... Any chance for a scan, or is it built?
Nevertheless... Thanks for the reply!

It has been built for a long time. I built it without any substitutions, so this is stock.

I know my Sprint had a different cone than the Hornet.
Maybe it used the PNC-55AO in early production and the 55AC later ??

Here's the full smash.
I scanned these a while back and I don't have the kit right beside me, but pretty sure the nose cone -- as others have stated (tbzep maybe?) -- is the same nose cone as the Estes Vigilante. Earl

AWESOME!!! Thanks David!!! Thanks Earl!!!
Of course, I'm still interested in seeing if there's any other variants out there. David's kit is clearly using a PNC-55AC. But, the crazy thing is... Earl's instructions are showing a blunt nosed NC, and the PNC-55AO matches that. However, the supplied part number in the instructions is 71070, which matches up with the PNC-55AC (the AO being 71075). If you haven't guessed, I'm loving this!!! I'm learning something new. All The Best! Jim

...and here's the face card. I did not yet have it pieced together from my original scans several months ago (many face cards are too long for my scanner bed...I have to make two scans then match piece them together in Photoshop).
As one can see, the face card art also shows the blunt nose. Earl

Thanks again for these Earl!
It's now a few minutes after 3 in the morning here in China, and thanks to an upcoming holiday, I don't have work in the morning... I'm going to be playing with these soon. I think I'll do both versions, as it's (A) not hard, (B) a possible trigger to get more information. All The Best! Jim

Ok, I could not get to the original kit quickly, but I did go back through my kit bag photos before the kit was opened to scan the contents.
As can be see from this back side photo, this kit actually DID have the more pointy cone. My memory of the cone was a bit off from back in November when I scanned this one for the build pile. So, the question now may be, did this kit EVER ship with the more rounded cone as depicted in the face card art and instructions? Earl

It wouldn't be the first time that something like that would have happened. Estes never added the body tube decal for the Cineroc/Omega, but it did appear with a decal on the body tube in the catalog.
Or like it has been suggested, perhaps sometime during production, things changed, but the catalog didn't (The Cherokee-D never updated the length despite getting the full 18" body tube in 1981).

Yes, I have found quite often things changed with a kit during its run, OR the graphics and such were done based on prototypes that were not totally and completely final. Then, by the time the model was kitted, certain parts and design nuances DID change a tad but were never really updated in the various kit graphics.
Centuri for example dropped several of its plastic nose cones in '74. The cones dropped were used in several popular kits. They simply substituted another cone of the correct body diameter, but it was not the same cone that had been used for the original kit design. The Twister and Snipe Hunter come to mind. Both used a shorter plastic cone; the Snipe Hunter's original plastic cone was very short. The Twister's original plastic cone was kind of a medium length cone. When both of those cones were dropped in '74, the much longer PNC-89 was sub'ed for both kits. The Snipe Hunter in particular looked very wrong with that 4"+ long cone, but that's what it wound up with. The Twister did not look quite as bad with that cone, but it did not look the same as the catalog images or face card/instructions either. NONE of the art/graphics was updated for either kit to reflect the nose cone changes. Earl
