Several people begged for the Trident despite not having instructions yet. I complied. I will use the feedback from the handful of early adopters to make the kit better. Fins are currently manually cut, that will be updated to laser as one poster noted. The curvy shapes requires a CAD file.

The feedback on ejection volume is valuable IMHO.

The election to use stock parts means if alternative stock parts are suggested by early adopters, I will most certainly consider that. Once there is a "validated" design I will cheerfully put it on the website.

In the mean time the version depicted is in stock for immediate shipment and THIS THREAD is the most complete source of public feedback. I will stick an invoice in the box and it is big enough to fit 2-3 other medium sized kits for the same shipping charge.

I modified the supplied balsa cone for the top of the pod.
Here are the pods as supplied and how I modified them.

Jerry, how about giving a link straight to the Trident. I don't see it anywhere on your site.

It still isn't on his site after a year and a half.

And I will state I didn't beg to be a Beta tester.... Since it was announced in August and I went to order it in January I assumed it was a regular production kit.....

Motor mount - decision time

Weighed up the mess of parts. Presently around 2 pounds 4 oz (and that included the motor casing and full sheet of balsa for the fins. Excluded parachute and actual motor.
Based on the weight I want a motor with at least an average thrust of 50N. Looking at the CTI site all of the 2G & 3G motors (except the mellow yellow) meet this requirement so I feel good with limiting myself to a 5G case size.

Further, I checked their instructions and they state that all the Pro-29 motors have 1.2g of ejection. Since 3 pods will require a bit over 1.2g and only using 1 pod would require around 0.7g, I think I will split the difference and have 2 of the pods active for ducting.... (yes, I could add some BP on top of theirs but I think 2 pods will do)

Looking through my junk, I mean scratch build stockpile, I found a long piece of straight metal similar in size to an Estes engine hook. I have no clue where I got it from. But I bent and cut it to size and notched the tail rings. Here it is dry fitted together. A piece of tape will help secure the spring clip to the motor when I go to fly.

Default Unreleased kits

I have been working on a 3” Orion which is on the website in the RETRO series. I think with that nearing completion it is possible to do a 6” version!

I just went to the USR website as well.
Cannot find the Trident anywhere.

It's not there till the bugs are worked out. Thanks for the interest, but the "beta" (I would say alpha), kit is in stock. The original poster is welcome to post what he paid. My doing so would be a solicitation for an alpha kit. Shipping is $12 flat.

We have had numerous alpha development kits over the years, mainly for Lucerne attendees. I would say 1/3 made it to reality. My favorite was the Platypus. I see nothing available to even link to on the entire internet on that one.

Maybe Performance Hobbies?

I paid $80 plus shipping

This was just getting picky, but sanded the motor section cone to more match the original Trident. You can see the difference against the passenger section cone which was the same. Finished sanding the other 2 pod nose cones.

I cut about 2" off the motor tube. The top centering ring is positioned to make sure it clears the pod duct cutout (see the pencil lines)

Started gluing rings to the motor tube

Last problem - the passenger section should be 21.375" The supplied tube is 17.875", so it is about 3.5" short. I will probably have to live with it.

Hmm - the pix posted out of order - sorry about that
