The early to mid 70's Cadillac Eldorado with the 500 CID engine was a decent car, but would have been far better with RWD.
NO AMC car has ever been anything but a total POS.

The interesting thing, as you probably know, is that that platform could be had with rear wheel drive. While the Toronado and El Dorado came in FWD on the e-body, the Riviera, which shared the e-body, had RWD. So this was a very early example of a platform that could be assembled either way.

One of the car guys in my hometown in Kentucky had a red 63 Riviera - it was one of those cars your coveted at first glance

And, like most other cars, it had a 12V battery in it that you could use to power your launch controller with

10 or 12 years ago, I was in Europe on business. We had just driven across the border into Geneva to catch a flight when a ~1965 El Dorado pulled up at the intersection we were crossing. With gas at about 8 bucks a gallon there, I couldn't imagine what it was like to own that car over there

Plus, besides the fuel expense, with a hood that long, the guy had to be extra careful that an airplane didn't mistake it for a runway
