Estes has a "Tech Rocket" where you roll your own body tube.
It wouldn't be easy to pull off in a classroom full of kids.

Here's a build of the Estes Tech-Pak Rocket from finish to start:

Looks like Pitsco might be a good source for the "old" style engine hooks (locks) https://www.pitsco.com/Shop/Aerospa...ts/Engine-Locks

Gave this thing a flight on Saturday, a C6-5 into a clear, blue sky. It performed better than well, high and straight, then a long recovery drift that had me thinking "I'm not going into the corn after this". I guess this week I have to come up with a paint scheme.

I checked them out and they are a reasonable price,
I don't know if they are really spring steel though.
Engine hooks that bend out when inserting motors are pretty much useless.

BMS sells old style engine hooks (no finger tabs) that are spring steel, the real deal!

Hey, great; thanks for the kit and build links!

You're probably right about the level of difficulty/frustration such a project would involve. That would certainly explain the suggestion to have some BT-50 tubes on hand! I wonder if this particular model is a "big-seller" for Estes / AC Supply? It might be interesting to hear some feedback from others who may have tried to build this particular kit with students in the past.

I've never seen the Sasha, but based on the pics, you may be right.

The ESAM-58 looks like a design copy of the Sasha, single stage 18mm without the antennas on the fins.
