Here's the one that was listed on ebay recently. Still there. Kit has issues, so read the description if you are interested in purchasing.

Not my listing. I have bought from the this seller before (Goodrocks) and have not had any issues with him. Prices are sometimes high, but every once in a while you can get a good deal.

Wow. With the same kit available from Semroc, I would think one would just have to have an original to pay that kind of money. I think eRockets even had the Semroc version on sale.

Yes, I think eRockets did have it on sale recently when they closed it out. Seems maybe a couple of sources still had one or two in the past couple months, but maybe those are gone now as well. Of course, the Semroc version will show up for quite a while for resale on eBay, but thankfully not at these kind of prices (well, not yet at least).

But, if you want a 'real' SPEV, it's gonna require a few $$$.

The SPEV's final appearance was the May 1973 issue of MRN (V13 N1) where the SPEV was noted as being a free kit with a mail order purchase of $15.00 or more (That was a lot of money back then).

So, the SPEV faded from the memory of rocketeers.

Except for people like me and Mark Bundick. I got a SPEV kit in '73 but didn't build it until 1976 or 7. I changed the fin shape to be a little larger, straked, and slightly swept, and called mine the "Uprated SPEV" (if I can find it I'll insert the first launch picture here)

By the time of eBay SPEV kits started showing up infrequently and often went for big $$$.

Not sure how I came across another SPEV kit, but I was able to trade it, even stephen, for a Centuri Little Joe II.

That original SPEV lasted nearly 40 years, one of the four fins replaced, all the others re-attached many times, spent a week hanging from an electric line, engine mount twice replaced, and TA6070 adapter replaced.

Until finally it was lost on a decent flight with a quest C6-5.

Default SPEV Rescued From the Dead

Here is a SPEV that I found in a grab bag of parts a few years ago, I used the corpse and parts I had, and a set of fins from SEMROC to rebuild "HER" and make her better than new !
Now has 24mm Power and fly's well on both the C 11-5 and the D 12-5.
This is one of many many models that I have rebuilt.

Picture #1 the remains of the SPEV that I rebuilt.
Picture # 2 &3 the SPEV Rebuilt and ready to fly.
Picture # 4 SPEV add ESTES INDUSTRIES.

In addition to the PDR clone SPEV, I also have the Semroc one as well.
Has anyone else noticed that the amount of kits offered by Semroc is becoming alarmingly LOW ?
WAYYYYYYYY too many discontinued titles.
One of the biggest things I admired in Carl's Semroc was that almost nothing got discontinued.

Yes, there is such a thing as NORMAL
, if you have to ask what is "NORMAL" , you probably aren't !

Failure may not be an OPTION, but it is ALWAYS a POSSIBILITY.
ALL systems are GO for MAYHEM, CHAOS, and HAVOC !

YES! Many, many kits have been discontinued! MANY. I know they have introduced a few new kits the past couple years, but it has been sad to see the numbers that have been dropped. I know they have to make a profit, but it is sad to see so many go by the wayside.
