Granted that China is a authoritarian, secretive society, but...
In any country when a disease like this appears, it will be initially attributed to the flu or some other respiratory bug. By the time they realize that they are dealing with something new, the virus will have already gotten out of the country - the world is very, very interconnected these days. Lots and lots of people traveling everywhere. China, Europe, the United States... It doesn't matter where. A global pandemic has been a concern for a few decades now. Wherever the origin, it's going to spread rapidly if the disease is easily transmitted. We are now experiencing something that has been expected for quite some time. The blame game helps nothing.

Yes, it was bad enough in 1918 with the world-wide flu pandemic then, the spread of which was enhanced by WWI troop actions/movement/home returns. But, boy are we a waaaaaay more mobile society now than 102 years ago. And that pandemic then was terrible. Earl

Chinese guvmint has no input on the naming of the virus.
A protocol has been established for several years where a name is given that does not stigmatize a geographical area or group of people, as was the case in Legionnaire's Disease. That's why Ebola (a nearby river) was chosen instead of the village where it first originated. WHO decides on the official name, not a government.

It SHOULD be STIGMATIZED on those that failed to contain it.
Blame should lie where it is due.

Yes, but sadly, lots of misinformation, and spin. We are now hearing how well China has now contained the spread, and loss of life is surprisingly low ( in light of China being the source of the outbreak). I don’t believe that for a minute. I’m guessing if we ever hear what the actual death count in China is, it will be an order of magnitude worse, maybe much more.

I'm working from home also. Taking service calls from machine customers--but there's no calls because most of the metal fab shops are closed.
In the meantime, I started a #2001 SV with an 18mm x 4 cluster.

I wouldn't trust any garbage propaganda numbers coming from china.
The only accurate statement is THAT is who is to BLAME for the spread.

Nice! I still have a boxed #2001. Also 2 boxed #2157s, plus one I started “early enough” to DEFINITELY have it ready for the Apollo 11 50th Anniversary ... Maybe I should just get it back out now. I have been working on trying to complete about 6 other builds. I should just up that to 7. Oh yeah, I have a 1:100 Estes Saturn 1B just awaiting paint. But weather is bad again, so no painting until maybe next week.

Nice! It's nearly impossible to believe, but I've NEVER built the Estes 1:100 scale S1B.
As for the #2001 SV I'm working on, my "assistant" isn't working out.
