Wow, yeah, poof! It’s gone!!

Kinda like that Aerotech G300, I think it was. Half-second burn time or was it a third of a second? It was quick, I remember that!

Lol! Well, to be honest, we have a pretty good selection of small BP motors already. High thrust B and D motors are the only glaring omissions.

High thrust E and F motors are missing too.

Yes, there is such a thing as NORMAL
, if you have to ask what is "NORMAL" , you probably aren't !

Failure may not be an OPTION, but it is ALWAYS a POSSIBILITY.
ALL systems are GO for MAYHEM, CHAOS, and HAVOC !

Estes has had some astounding motor engineers over the years.

Ed Brown was probably the preeminent black powder motor engineer in the country/world for many years. Now that the level of ownership/management of Estes has risen to his level of ability he is no doubt very much missed (may he rest in peace).

Estes also worked on pressable composites years ago. My hope is that this announcement heralds a return to that kind of industry changing forward thinking.

I didn't mention them because we do have AP motors that are significantly higher thrust than the Estes BP offerings.

I didn't realize they worked on pressed composites. I knew about Vulcan and NCR, but assumed everything was the poured variety. I assume you mean something that a motor machine could do, versus the high solids stuff we experimented with that we packed around the mandrel because it didn't flow.

I don't really know the details but I understand they looked at it. My impression is that pressed vs. poured would potentially save lots of man-hours which would really reduce costs.

I have no idea if this is something they are currently interested in, but there are lots of other fascinating new motor projects Estes might pursue, which is why the advertising for new motor engineers is so exciting.

Matt just told me that (the pressable composites thing) was mostly Scott Dixon's baby, and the project died after he quit working with Estes. That caused me to look at the patent again, and I saw that it just sat there until it was abandoned during the Hobbico bankruptcy in 2016. Since none of the three inventors work for Estes, and it may be that John did not receive the application as part of the purchase (it stayed with "Estes-Cox"), it's possible that only Scott Dixon could revive it, but since it has been published, anyone can make something based on it.
