I wondered the same thing. It’s maybe time to buy up what fin sets might still be available, since I delayed on buying a number of great Semroc kits that are now gone.

UPDATE: Lots of fins still available. Here are the Nike-Tomahawk fins.

Hi Lee, you’ll also need the fiber fin sheet that I linked to in post #9 along with the basswood sheet you mentioned.

There are only two of those fiber fin sheets left in stock so if someone wants them I wouldn’t wait. I also missed out on a number of Semroc kits and that’s what I was doing earlier today. Trying to get some parts for future builds that are obviously going extinct. Seems I’m a little late to the party ...

I thought they were really hard balsa.
I NEVER ever leave fin leading/trailing edges square unless required for scale.
It is a very small step that reduces drag a TON. Filling tube spirals takes TEN TIMES the work and is almost zero benefit.
Yeah, basswood is really just so fun to sand

I like basswood fins though. Far more durable.

Wow, I missed that!

I saw Bill’s post wondering if they were still in the eRocket files, and went and looked them up. I missed the fiber fins. Since there are only two, I’m graciously cancelling any plans to order, so someone more deserving has a shot at them. (Translation: I have more than a lifetime supply of kits to build ... I’ll pass.)

If you write to him, or call him, and ask - Randy just might make you some parts that you need to clone an OOP kit.

Sheet styrene is a good replacement material for the fiber fin material.

Thanks Wolf, that's good advice. I did email Randy concerning one item that I'd like to add to my cart that I couldn't locate on his site.

That's something I never considered Chris but it sounds like a good idea. I was never a big fan of fiber fins. Pretty much every Centuri kit I ever built that had fiber fins I wrecked it pretty quickly with anything other than the softest landings.

I have a Centuri Nomad that survived quite a few launches when I was a kid. I was and am still lucky to have my own pasture to launch in, so my rockets usually land in decently soft grass. I recall rubbing Elmer's glue into the edges to stop the fraying a few times, though. It's retired and hanging on the wall now. I always thought it was one of the more handsome kits I owned of any manufacturer. My Centuri Buck Rogers Starfighter got most of its fiber damage just sitting out on display for ~40 years. The little Boy Scout Akela-1 kits didn't hold up well at all when I was a kid. I used balsa for my clones.
