You do?
Let's assess this - centrally located east of the Mississippi.
Has access to a decent field...

Sounds like the ideal location for YORFCON 202X. Camp in, fly in... How about hosting a YORF gathering and launch?

I'm tempted to just cut correctly shaped fins out of balsa and just round the edges instead of dealing with these built up things.

, if you have to ask what is "NORMAL" , you probably aren't !

Failure may not be an OPTION, but it is ALWAYS a POSSIBILITY.
ALL systems are GO for MAYHEM, CHAOS, TURMOIL, FIASCOS, and HAVOC !

I wish I could! My pasture is nowhere near big enough for something like that. I've got trees on my fence rows that separate pastures and are magnets for anything that flies high.

My main pasture is probably longer than Bill's B6-4 field, but probably not wider. It's nowhere near enough for an Enerjet Nike-Ram clone stuffed with an D12, much less an F or G motor. I might get it on the field with a D12 and a streamer, but not with a 12" chute. I fly mostly B6-4's in the average size sport kits. If I want to do bigger stuff, it's got to be something heavy or high drag. For higher altitude stuff, I have to go out to a friend's farm and deal with cotton or corn stubble. I doubt he'd go for a public launch.

I guess I could host one if all flights were for a spot landing contest.

Edit: My largest pasture is shaped a little like the S in Kiss's logo (or the Nazi SS). the longer tail portion is about 250' x 650' in a north/south direction. If the wind is east/west, I move to the horizontal part of the S which is about 250' x 450'. There are very large old oak trees around a good portion of the pasture.

Have you priced 1/64" plywood lately ?
In the past we used it to "skin" R/C Pattern aircraft foam wings.
It is now about $20 for a measley 10"x12" sheet.
Priced beyond any real hobby usage.

That price is actually pretty reasonable.

Especially when combined with other items to help with shipping costs.

Just looked at the eRockets site for available Semroc kits.
The amount of discontinued/"Sorry out Of Stock" kits is RIDICULOUS.
Next to nothing worthwhile other than the Mars Lander and Farside-X are available.
What was a once stellar company is now a real BUMMER.
