The (6) fiberglass fins need to be "prettied up" a little. Using the Corian board covered with 220 I scrape all edges of each fin and then lap the leading edge for (30) strokes on each side to round it off.

The phenolic BT is indeed slotted to mount the (6) fins but the slots are just a BCH too narrow to accept the fins without a large amount of force. Using a piece of 220 that I've doubled over twice, I scrape the slots until the fins will slide in from the slot's open end. Now I'm VERY glad I thickened the engine mount tube with the Avery postal label stock as this is helping protect the engine mount tube from getting damaged from the sanding.

Now to mount the first (2) fins.

I very rarely use CA in model rockets, but I think this is an occasion for it. I'll still use epoxy for the fillets. After applying thin CA into (2) opposite slots I slide a fin into each slot and then brace and align them with......you guessed it.......the Jeffyjeep Imbecile Proof Fin Alignment Technique (or JIPFAT.)

I'm a fiberglass virgin.

I'll now freely admit that I've never finished fiberglass. Will the fins accept normal paints and primers--or do they need something special?

I really don't have any extra parts to do a reaction test on.

Most fibreglass will accept standard primers and paints.
Lacquer, Dope, Urethane, and Enamel.

GOOD LUCK, I think you should find a bigger field than what is recommended on the instructions.
and have a lot of people to help you keep an eye on it.
I have never had one of these kits but did launch a FSI ORBIT on a F7-6 and we tracked the ORBIT to +4600' and then lost sight of the rocket until the ejection charge went off that was at close to 5000 ' I have always been lucky to have a extra large launch site and many "Eyes" on the
target. The FSA Launch site a Drier Park is about 1 mile X 3/4 of a mile. Most of the members and Hi Power Guy's so they know how to track rockets.

Seattle Rocket Works (SRW) was not associated with Impulse Aerospace/Rocket Vision.

It was SRW which was sold to Lawn Dart Rocketry.

Rugged Rockets was the marketing header for the Rocket Vision rocket kits.

Rocket Vision sold re-labeled AeroTech 24mm single-use motors as 'Flight-Star' motors.

E15, F72 and G55.

Flight Star motors came with a molded yellow thrust ring glued to the aft end of the motor. The molded ring even had a 'notch' in it so one could use the motor in Estes/Quest kits which had motor hooks.

These molded rings were attached by Rocket Vision after they received the motors from AeroTech. These little yellow thrust rings would cause a major outcry by a few NAR members over violation of the no alteration of the motors clause in the safety code.
