I still have an unopened MR kit in my stash. Built several back in the days. The first one I tried to build in 1969 was a total disaster. No way I could do the escape tower and extra detailing for the fins. My 2nd attempt at this model a few years later was much better, but got ruined when I held the white spray paint can too close to the rocket body and the paint started to run. Other than that, the attempt on the LES was much, much better and I've gotten a few good flights out of that one. Good luck and enjoy the build. It's truly a builder's kit.

The tower isn’t that hard, just use small drops of glue and weight down on wax paper. Wait ! That’s harder than the work. Still, so far...All Systems are Go.

Thank You. Again, if you read my first page, it was my Second kit ever. It’s still in existence, but guy is non responsive. I wasted no time, went from Alpha, to Redstone, to Saturn V !

Nice progress Danny!! I built one of those back in the day doing the usual kid workmanship on it. Never did fly it and the escape tower got broken off/lost at some point. Sold it around 10 years ago (wish I held on to it).

BTW - is that the Mini-Bomarc you got from me in the background of a couple pics? If so it's looking much better!

Sorry, I know the feeling. The key is to use 2 chutes and tie the cone to the BT with a 6’ string. They’ll stay together during descent and make for a gentler landing. I’ve broken many a tower myself, tho ! Yes, that’s the Bomarc. The paint wrinkled and I’m trying to get it back right ! Thanks for the kind words.....

I built one when I was about 12 or 13. I still have nightmares about creating dowels from that stupid wood sheet.
I currently have an unopened one and an opened one. I ordered Semroc laser-cut fins for both long ago. Might be my next build, but will get correct-diameter plastic rod to create the tower.

Baaaah, that’s cheating. But, to each his own. Still, plastic has to be cut to fit, glued too. Where’s the challenge ? This kit was created for that purpose, to make a hard to build kit. And keep it all original. You gonna let a few sticks of wood defeat you ?!......
