Default What was the name of the Estes kit...

What was the name of the Estes kit that looks somewhat like the GQM-163's ramjet sustainer stage shown below?

Every few months I drag mine out and have another go at ramjet construction. I usually end up breaking, a quivering mass of protoplasmic goo, in tears, snot running down my face. Not sure what it is that makes it such a blood sucking vampire to me, but I expect sausage fingers and teeny tiny parts have something to do with it. Better than The Dude, though.

I've often wondered where John Boren got the inspiration for the QCC Explorer. Now I know.

It's a very interesting build and performs much better than you'd expect with those inlet scoops.

Bill, you better stay away from the Original Estes K-41 Mercury Redstone if you think this one is tough. That thing is a TRUE Skill Level 5.

If you thought building those ducts were fun, wait until you try to fill all the little rectangular slots that those tabs were glued into. I bought 4 of the QCC Explorer kits, and several Conquests (which use a couple of the ducts), a few years ago when Estes put them on “factory clearance” pricing. That’s a lifetime supply for me, even if I live to a very ripe old age.
