Default Flying this weekend?

We have our first cornfield launch scheduled for Saturday and the weather is supposed to be pretty much perfect. Anyone else have a launch scheduled?

Thanks. Flying a couple of big ones, one of which has a checkered flight past. I was going to put in an order to eRockets for some Aerotech F20s to fly my two Lil Nukes, but I think I'll save that for the next launch. I'm seven short of 200 on t he year, so that's my focus this weekend.

I'm pulling a double shift (48 hrs) to put out the cornfield stubble fire you start.

I only burn dry grass. I leave the cornstalk fires to the Sparky morons.

It looks like all of Ohio will be launching on the 7th - except me. I have a prior commitment that is nonnegotiable. Hopefully the weather is good enough on the 21st for my first L1 attempt. Good luck and safe landing to everyone this weekend! 👍

We had a huge one a couple years ago and we didn't even need sparkies. A guy working for the local fertilizer company was riding around a huge field of stubble taking soil samples in a UTV. He left his parking brake on the whole time and the brakes got red hot. He was oblivious to the smoldering behind him. It started fires all over the upwind side of the field on a windy day. It crossed the entire field and got into the woods in a matter of minutes.

Bill my club has another launch scheduled for Saturday and Sunday that I had planned to fly at but my wife had a rescheduled outpatient procedure today so unfortunately we won’t be able to make the launch this weekend

+1 to what GH said about looking forward to your flight reports. I’m thinking of cancelling my Apple TV+ subscription because your blog has more content and is much more entertaining and free of charge!

MAX-imize your flying time bro

Hey Steve! I was hoping to make the TRA-LA this weekend as well, but doesn’t look like I will be able to make it. Hope all goes well with your wife’s surgery. See you at one of the spring launches.

Cheers,

Philip

Yes! The final Oregon Rocketry launch of the year. We are using a "misfire alley" set-up of 4 - 5 Estes launch controllers and pads, and marking out distanced set-up areas for each family / group.
