That’s one of the big advantages of 3D printing - you can do it on demand, rather than order a run of items from a plastic molding company. NCR probably isn’t planning on selling too many of these but with 3D printed plastic parts they didn’t have to buy a bunch of specialized proprietary parts upfront, once the printer files are done (which most likely wasn’t free but cheaper than having molds made) all they need is off the shelf rocket parts. The future of small runs of specialized rocket kits is 3D printing. |

My clone of the FSI 1/10 scale Javelin/Argo D4.
55.6" long, 2.25" dia., basswood fins. 29mm powered. Parts from erockets. Don't remember how much I paid for the parts, but probably less than $100. Still nekkid, one day I'll get around to painting this puppy.

BARGeezer:
Do you have a parts list for that ? Would really like that to make one.

Yeah, I found out that too. No more LT225 tubing.
And I'm not about to 'pirate' one of my original Semroc SLS kits either. WAAAYYYYYY too much 'discontinuation' of items since Carl & Co. owned Semroc. I don't see us having anything similar to the 'old' Semroc from any company in our lifetime. They truly were "hobbyist centered" first and everything else a distant second.

A bit about this kit.
I've been following Matt and Mike's development of this kit for 3 years. Matt initially wanted to do a big version of the Javelin and enlisted Mike, of Galactic Manufacturing to make some of the transitions. As they progressed, Mike's skills, and his printer, got better and better. At some point it occurred to Matt that there was no reason not to do this as an ultra-detail kit. Honestly, it goes together like an E2X and comes out like a NARAM scale model. Basically the builder preps and paints the tubes and plastic parts and ends up with an incredibly detailed scale mode Matt's aware that with all the incredibly fine 3D parts the cost is way beyond what most will want to spend. His margin on this kit is way less than his usual. But he figured it is so unique that he'd offer it, sell to who wants it, and then move on. Attached are some photos of the unboxing. Steve |
