While not great for doing hundreds of rings, here's the method I usually use for making my own Centering Rings. I call it the Arc-Scribing method. It's like what Flash showed, but by making a easy simple tool, once you have gotten it "just right", then it is absolutely repeatable.

Which solves the biggest problem of adjustable circle cutters. The problem is not scribing a circle, the real problem is scribing a PRECISE circle that is not too big or too small, over and over and over.

Here's a link to my website with more details:
http://georgesrockets.com/GRP/Artic...Rings/Rings.htm

This is going more off track, but I happened to come across this video of a guy who made an all-wood version of a Dyson type "bladeless fan", with a big circular hood. Master skills involved in cutting out dozens and dozens of wood wedges to be glued up into rings. And the lathe work and other work involved. Impressive. Heck, he even started out with literally scrap wood of irregular shapes that be cut and planed into identical rectangular strips of wood to even have the basic stock to begin the project with. And now I know what the aerodynamic magic goes on inside of a Dyson type "bladeless" fan (yeah, uh, not really bladeless....). Well, I basically knew, but never saw a cut-away.

I'll still take good old BALSA over 3D printed anything wherever possible.

GH, You hit that nail squarely on the head.

Very few “ individuals” in my area are willing to wear a mask so...

As for the transitions...I make a complete Scrambler payload section with nose cone clear payload tube and transition.

GH, also if you want one of those transition, just send me your address.

Gordon, did you look into USPS pick-up from home?

Do not know if it would be practical, but here's a link to start with.

https://faq.usps.com/s/topic/0TOt00...?tabset-44809=2

Also, UPS does pick-up.

If shipping ended up costing more, without being nuts, I'm sure most customers desperate for your services would be willing to pay extra for now.

The problem is not so much my local post office.

The problem is 90 miles away in the USPS distribution center in Allen Park, Michigan.

I have llost two packages there. On the local Detroit news they showed a line of semi trucks that have been waiting for days and days just to get Mail unloaded.

Having an order lost is an expensive time consuming and frustrating as all get out!

I had one lost before the COVID thing 9 months ago. I still haven’t received a check for that yet.

Oh...just to add more expense to a lost package. You are out the shipping cost. When the post office screws up you do not get that shipping money back. The post office $50 insurance does not cover that.

As for one balsa order going to me, nobody knows where that went.

George, I have tried.

OK, let’s go back to the original topic.

I have a 12" wood lathe. I've used it for 10+ years for everything from pens to bowls to vases to nosecones to transitions. If I was going to need something turned and wanted any degree of quality, I'd first turn to Sandman. I'd also be willing to pay extra for UPS/FedEx shipping to get it.

A few options for getting cones/transitions made but if you want wood, you can't get one better than Sandman.

Woe! Thank you.

I am in a rural area of Michigan and UPS and Fed Ex don’t seem to be an option here.

I can ship Fed Ex but it would need a Fed Ex label. I have to drive a 60 mile round trip just to have a Fed Ex label printed.

This makes no sense to me.

+1 to what heada just said above.
It doesn't get any better than balsa from Gordon.

Gordon-
I offered up my explanation in the posting because I hadn't seen you on the site much lately.
Glad I got it correct.

If those in my area weren't wearing masks, I wouldn't be out much either.
Gotta keep it safe.

Gordon I feel your pain. I got stuff out there in the ether somewhere. My USPS app shows that I received an order on Dec 4th......that I ordered on Dec 4th......the app shows it was shipped Nov 30......5 days before I ordered it.... I'm surprised we haven't had any post office people going postal like they used to do back in the 80's and 90's.....

Right now I don't think I would ship anything USPS and instead, do UPS home pickup......

I bought some parts from eRockets to scratch build a first generation Scrambler.
That took the same transition. Hard part for me was the clear payload tube to find.
That's been a few years or so and eRockets still sold the Semroc Scrambler Kit.
I was going to order a few of them to have on hand.
If they don't stock them now, I guess I should have instead of being cheap.
