Matt did not believe that he had any left either.

Chas-

Ok, now reading this email AFTER I sent you the PM, so disregard the BT details I went into in THAT message.

Thanks so much for looking though!!

I bought some “mis-sized” BT-23 from NCR back in 1992. They are slightly undersized, measuring 2.28” ID, 2.36” OD, giving a wall thickness of .040”. (I just went and measured one, I still have 4 or 5. Those old tubes still look new, after sitting nearly 30 years!) Great deal, they were $1 each, I bought 10, I think. They are the basis for my Super Trident, but without any nose cones (or centering rings) that fit, I had BMS turn some clones of the standard Trident nose cones. I wanted faithful upscales.). That project got put on the back burner (actually, boxed, and in my shop rafters). I still have a number of smaller cones to make for the top end of the ducting tubes. One of these days ...

When BMS quit doing custom balsa nose cones, I decided I would add a lathe to my wood shop. I have turned a few nose cones, and one transition, to fit the tubes. My L1 project in the early 90s was a scratch-build using one of those BT-23s, with custom nose cone and CRs. That rocket still exists, in fact, I gave it a new paint job and will fly it at NSL next week. I still have my NCR Patriot, too, from 1992. Although it is a bit shorter, wears different paint, and will also fly at NSL. Attached is a picture of the old Patriot, now known as Slick Willie.

I seem to have very good luck with NCR stuff.

Yeah I looked there, but unfortunately their current BT-26 specs (diameter) do not quite match the 'old school' NCR BT-26.

Earl

How do you know? The web site does not give the actual dimensions.

The Semroc ST-27 is 2.7" OD, but thin walled: http://www.erockets.biz/body-tube-sizes/

But if you look at one of the kits that use that size tube it gives you the diameter of the kit and that diameter does not quite match the diameter of the older NCR BT-26 tubes.

So far I have not found a tube that matches the older BT-26 specs (or the BT-23), but I am still looking.
